Bump Date - Week 15

We are 15 weeks already?! Where is the time going?

Proud Daddy and  Mommy  - 15w1d
My big boy and I at the beach - 15w

How Far Along?:  15w3d

Due Date: We saw our OB yesterday! The babies are growing and we are now measuring a little (like 2 days) ahead of schedule. Regardless, we will never make it to January 14. The babies will be here at 38 weeks if at all possible... so the week of NYE we will be celebrating our miracles!

Weight Gain: As of yesterday, I'm up 10lbs from before I started FSH injections in April. My doctor told me he is not going to hound me about gaining too little or too much weight. He did emphasize I need to not worry about gaining too much or too little. I guess as long as I'm healthy and the babies are growing and wiggling, we are doing pretty good!

Maternity Clothes: I'm in maternity clothes all the way down to my panties. I found these comfy bikini undies at Motherhood Maternity a few weeks ago. I absolutely love them and they do not cut across my lower abdomen (where baby A is hanging out for now) like my pre-pregnancy undies. I do still wear a few loose pre-pregnancy dresses, but for the most part maternity clothes are more comfortable.

Sleep: I miss being able to sleep through the night. It is so crazy I went from napping daily, going to bed early, and dragging myself out of bed to .... now. Now it takes at least 30 minutes for me to finally get comfortable in bed. I'm awake around 1:30am for bathroom break #1. It then takes me another 30 minutes to get comfortable again and fall back asleep. I'm awake between 3-3:30am for bathroom break #2. Usually by this point, my right hip (close to where Baby B hangs out) is throbbing and it is nearly impossible for me to get comfortable. I guess they are preparing me for when they arrive in a few short months! Mommy is already up most of the night with them!

Best Moment This Week:  Seeing the babies! They are both growing! We even got to watch Baby B stretch and yawn a little while the tech took his/ her measurements. Baby A was wiggling and kicking around as usual. The tech did give us a guess on their genders, but she told us not to start shopping yet because it will have to be confirmed at my 20w anatomy scan. Ahh shucks. We did go ahead and tell Big Bro Gav what the guesses are since he has been dying to know.

Weird Pregnancy Moment:  Nothing really out of the ordinary. Shocking. I know.

Movement: I don't feel movement as far as kicks and punches yet. I DO feel pressure where the babies are though. Sometimes it feels like Baby B is tapping on the inside of my tummy. It is the craziest feeling. I tried to explain it to Trey. It is just too hard to explain though!

Symptoms: food aversions, cravings, heartburn (yikes!!), growing belly, pregnancy mask, shortness of breath, round ligament pain.

Cravings/ Aversions: Milk. I was never a fan of milk until I got pregnant with the twins. I actually hadn't noticed how much milk I had been drinking until Trey pointed out I go through a gallon a week! I also love to eat any form of potatoes.

Anything Make You Queasy:  Chili's Restaurant. I got sick in there twice earlier in pregnancy. I just cannot bring myself to give it another try. I get queasy in the evenings if I wait too long to eat supper. Other than that, I feel like a million bucks compared to the first trimester!

Gender: We have been given a very firm "guess", but it will have to be confirmed at our 20w anatomy scan. Lucky for us, our scan is actually scheduled for 18w6d... so we will get an early peek!

What I'm Looking Forward To:  2 words: ANATOMY. SCAN. Other than that : Shopping for our precious babies, registering for gifts, getting a solid answer on genders, decorating the nursery... the list goes on and on! We are so excited and so happy we have been given this opportunity to experience twins!

Beachin' It At 14weeks

Greetings! It has been a while since I've written a public post, so here is an update for your reading pleasure!

The vomiting has finally subsided! Just in time for our vacation to the beach. Thank goodness, right? I do still get a little queasy in the evenings and if I don't eat when I get hungry. The feeling of being "really hungry" has been replaced with a feeling of "I'm so hungry I may throw up whatever is in my stomach right now if someone doesn't give me food soon." It's a beautiful thing really.

As far as other pregnancy related fun, it has been an uneventful last 2 weeks. I'm thankful we safely made it into our 2nd trimester. There were moments in the 1st trimester where I doubted we would ever see 14w4d with the twins, but God saw us through and took away that doubt. Now here we are! I still cannot wrap my head around the fact I have 2 precious little lives growing and kicking inside of me right now! God is so good! I cannot wait to see how cute their little faces are and if they have my hair or Trey's! Big brother is excited too! He cannot wait to find out if he is getting brothers, sisters, or one of each.

Speaking of genders... I keep having dreams the babies are little boys! At least once or twice a week I dream about them! Every. Single. Time. The are boys! I've been told we won't know genders for sure until my 20w anatomy scan, but I'm really crossing my fingers someone will take a peek at my 15w growth scan on Friday! It seems like everyone else who is due about the same time as me already have their gender reveal party plans in the making. I wanna know what the twins are!!! I'm ready to plan the nursery and start shopping!

Here's a few pics to hold everyone over until I get back to reality in a few days. Enjoy...!

Gavin plotting his massive sand castle at the beach.

My 13w2d baby bump... And maybe a bit of 1st trimester bloating.

The super adorable onesies I couldn't resist buying a few weeks ago.

My view for the next 4 days.

Everyone have a great week!!

Bump Date - 12 Weeks

How Far Along? 12w2d
*No pic this week. Oops.**

Due Date: We saw our OB last Friday. My official due date is January 14th; however, Dr. W said we will deliver around 37-38 weeks. With that being said, the babies will be here the week of Christmas or the following week.

Weight Gain: According to the scale at my OB's office, I have gained a whopping 3lbs since my last FSH injection in April. My appetite is finally coming back around, so hopefully I will be gaining a little bit of weight in the next few weeks.

Maternity Clothes: It is all I wear with the exception of a few items I purchased in bigger sizes a few months ago.

Sleep: I take naps when I have a chance, but I no longer HAVE TO have one just to get through the day. I'm asleep at night by 8:30 or 9.

Best Moment This Week:  Seeing the babies! They are growing and Baby A had his/ her little legs crossed. It was precious. Baby B was just chillin' (as usual) with his/her hands beside his/ her sweet little face. I cannot wait to see them again in 3 weeks!

Weird Pregnancy Moment:  Pregnancy Mask. I have it! I look like I have a mustache or my makeup is too dark in places. I've tried to cover it with concealer, but it just doesn't seem to help. I've been told it will go away after the babies come though. Until then, I'm covering myself in SPF50 and hoping I can prevent any further skin issues.

Movement: It is still too early for that! I'm ready to feel some wiggling though.

Symptoms: food aversions, cravings, increased appetite, heartburn (yikes!!), growing belly, pregnancy mask, shortness of breath.

Cravings/ Aversions: Cheese Sticks from Sonic! That will pack on some pounds I'm afraid.

Anything Make You Queasy:  Chili's Restaurant. I got sick in there twice earlier in pregnancy. I just cannot bring myself to give it another try.

Gender: Still too soon to know! I had a dream Tuesday night that they are both boys though! We actually have boy names already picked out, so that would work out perfectly I think! Either way, we just want them to be healthy! We've waited so long to hold them in our arms.

What I'm Looking Forward To:  The beach in 3 weeks!!! When we come back, I will have my 15 week OB appointment and growth scan. It will be a great week for sure!

Week 12 Excitement and Whatnot

We made it. We made it to the infamous 12 week safety zone. I feel like I can breathe a sigh of relief and finally soak this wonderful experience in. We didn't make it to this point without a few bumps in the road though. I'm excited to say my all day nausea and nighttime vomiting have ceased as of the past 3 nights. Praise God! I have felt a bit queasy at some point the past few days, but it is absolutely NOWHERE near the intensity of the previous 9 weeks! I'm so thankful I am finally able to focus on eating what me and the babies need and not have to worry about throwing up in public places!

On Monday evening, the babies gave their Daddy and me a bit of a scare. I was headed to the bathroom for the 25th time that day- I'm exaggerating. Anyway, I was headed to the bathroom and something did not feel "right". When I went to do my business, I noticed some reddish/ pink on my underwear. I also noticed it in the toilet and when I wiped. I immediately panicked and just knew this was it and everything was all over. I ran outside to tell Trey. He was mowing the yard, but stopped as soon as he saw the distraught look on my face. I ran up to tell him I was bleeding. He told me to go on inside, sit down, and call the doctor. He put the mower away even though only half of our yard had been mowed. He came inside and held me until we received a call back. It was the longest 30 minute wait of my life. I just knew this was it and the next 24 hours would be rough. Finally the on-call doctor called me back. He reassured me that I was far enough along that the spotting was probably nothing to worry about, but they would need to see me in the office the next morning just to check everything out. I felt better about the situation but was still concerned.

I went in Tuesday morning at 9:15 for an ultrasound. Trey and I got to see the babies for the fourth time in a month! Baby A had his/her legs crossed and was doing his/her signature wiggling. A was measuring 12w3d. Baby B was turned facing us and had his/ her sweet little hands tucked up close to his/her face. B was measuring 11w5d. They both had strong heartbeats in the 150bpm range. The tech did discover my fibroid had grown a bit in the last few months, but after speaking with the Nurse Practitioner, nobody really seemed too concerned about it. They didn't see anything in the ultrasound that would be a cause for spotting or bleeding. It was determined I may just have had some spotting from all of the growing and stretching of my uterus to accommodate our lime sized little miracles.

So here we are. We are almost out of the first trimester. I still cannot believe I have 2 precious miracle babies growing in the uterus I was told would never hold another a child. God is so good and so so faithful. My heart is so full and so happy... so so happy!

Bump Date - 11 weeks

I would like to preface this post by saying it has been a  rough week in the twin growing business. I am so blessed and so very grateful my husband and I have been given these precious little miracles, but at the same time... I have feared for my own health numerous times in the past few days. My all day queasiness has turned into violent vomiting in the evenings. Daily. I can almost predict it. It will happen between 5:30- 7:00. Every. Single. Day. It doesn't matter what I eat or what I don't eat. It happens. I have cried numerous times as I prayed for God to please protect my babies as I convulse over the toilet each night. This is all apparently normal for a twin pregnancy. It can last all the way up to 20 weeks too. I'm putting my big girl pants on and trying to tough it out for 9 more weeks... for my babies. We've waited so long to be pregnant with Baby A and Baby B. If this is what I have to deal with to bring them into the world, I'll take it. I just want them to be happy, healthy, and perfect.

How Far Along? 11 Weeks
*No pic this week. Oops.**

Due Date: Still shooting for early to mid December

Weight Gain: I was up 5lbs last week, but that was before The Great Evening Sickness of 2014 hit. I haven't weighed myself in the last few days. We go to the OB on Friday. I'm sure they will weigh me there. Their scale is all that matters anyway, right?

Maternity Clothes: It is all I wear with the exception of a few pre-pregnancy dresses. I'm patiently waiting on another package from Old Navy. Hopefully I will be finished with buying maternity clothes until the fall!

Sleep: I'm getting better about trying to eat during my lunch hour instead of sleeping the time away. I'm still in bed by 8:30 each night and take long naps on the weekends. I do have waves of "I'm so sleepy. I can barely hold my eyes open!" but that is becoming natural to me. I just take it as it comes. :)

Best Moment This Week:  Trey rubbing my little bump each night before he goes to sleep. He says he is telling the babies good night. It is absolutely precious! It makes this all seem so real.

Weird Pregnancy Moment:  As soon as we walk in anywhere.... I have to locate the restroom for 2 reasons. I'm either going to pee or puke before we leave.  Also, for about 6 days straight I have spent the evenings in the bathroom vomiting.... for like 30 minutes! It was a little scary and I got really dizzy. Apparently it is normal though. I'm hoping this will pass quickly!

Movement: It is still too early for that! I'm ready to feel some wiggling though.

Symptoms: food aversions, cravings, increased appetite, violent vomiting, nausea, exhaustion. Ya know.. the normal stuff!

Cravings/ Aversions: I have a new appreciation for baked potatoes. I still have an aversion to sweets and meat.

Anything Make You Queasy: Being awake. I'm queasy all day everyday until I lay my head down. I'm hoping this phase passes soon so I can start giving the babies healthy foods.

Gender: Still too soon to know! Gav is hoping for a brother and sister. I'm just hoping for 2 healthy babies! Trey won't weigh in on it.

What I'm Looking Forward To:  My first OB appointment on Friday!! Non-pregnancy related, we booked a beach vacation this week! I'm so ready to have 5 days on the beach uninterrupted with my husband and Gavin! I will be 15 weeks when we leave, so I'm hoping I will have energy by then and NO MORE vomiting!

Bump Date - 10 Weeks

How Far Along? 10 Weeks 2 Days

Due Date: We're still on track for early to mid December.

Weight Gain: 5lbs. Which is on track with twin pregnancy weight gain based on my pre-pregnancy BMI.

Maternity Clothes: Yes please. I had a friend give me a whole bag full of stuff earlier this week! I've also begun doing a little online shopping to fill the void in my wardrobe. I should be set for the rest of the summer into early fall. I think I sprouted a bump overnight, because several pre-pregnancy items are REALLY snug now.

Sleep: I still need a daily nap and I'm in bed no later than 8:30 each night. I miss having energy to workout like I should. I'm hoping my energy returns in the next few weeks so I can workout the way I should be.

Best Moment This Week:  I had a few!

  • Sharing our news last Saturday with our friends and family!
  • Seeing a little bump in the mirror.
  • Getting to see Baby A kicking and wiggling.
  • Seeing Baby B just chilling.
  • My "graduation" from NFC.

Weird Pregnancy Moment:  Pregnancy Brain. It is real folks and I have it!

Movement: I haven't felt any, but I sure did see Baby A kicking and moving on the ultrasound screen this week!  The babies are the size of prunes this week (how ironic). I'm sure they will be moving and kicking Mommy soon enough. I cannot wait!

Symptoms: All day nausea, vomiting every evening around 5-6pm, exhaustion, food aversions, tiny bump.

Cravings/ Aversions: Nothing has sounded good this week other than waffles and boneless buffalo wings. Not together though. I'm so ready to give the babies healthy food, but for now I'm just eating the few things that sound good.

Anything Make You Queasy: I'm queasy all day everyday. I'm still taking my Zofran, B6, and Unisom.

Gender: It's a little early to know, but based on their heart rates earlier this week, I'm placing bets on boy/ girl.

What I'm Looking Forward To:  I have my very first OB appointment on the 27th. Trey is going with me. We are hoping we will get another peek at the babies. I'm excited to see Dr. W and Brooke (his nurse) again! I told them several months ago I would see them again and I would be pregnant with twins! I'm so excited to get the game plan for our pregnancy.

Graduation Day

My journey with NFC officially ended today. I graduated. It was a bittersweet day. I am excited to be moving on to the next step in bringing our little miracles into the world, but at the same time I am really going to miss the staff at NFC. They have been a HUGE part of my life for the past seven months. I do not think I will ever be able to fully express how grateful I am that our journey led us to NFC. I'm tearing up as I type this actually. I remember being so terrified at my first appointment as Trey and I sat in that tiny room while the nurse asked us a list of questions. Then, they escorted us to a room where they did a full exam on me. We were there for 2 hours for testing and a consultation. I remember the day I went to NFC for my injection training. That was the day I met Ellen, my nurse practitioner. I was so nervous and scared, but she reassured me I could do this. She gave me step by step instructions on how to do the injections and told me to call her if I have any problems or questions. Almost every time I went to the clinic for my appointments, Ellen was there smiling and encouraging me. Ellen was the one who did our final IUI... the IUI that gave us the twins. She was so encouraging and positive that day. She made me feel comfortable and confident. She seemed more like a friend than a nurse. It was so great! The day we first saw our precious twins, Ellen found me in the clinic just to congratulate me and give me a hug. Today I hugged her at least 3 times and thanked her for everything. I wish I could take Ellen with me so she could deliver my babies (haha), but I know she needs to stay at NFC to encourage and help other couples.

The happier part of the day at NFC was when I got to see our little ones! Baby A was wiggling and kicking. Baby B was just chilling out. I told Trey Baby A is like his/ her daddy and can't sit still. Baby B must be like me. Oh how I cannot wait to see their precious faces in a few months! I also got to hear their little heartbeats. Baby A was in the 140s. Baby B was in the 170s. I know it is a little early, but I'm thinking we may have a little boy and a little girl... only time will tell.

Now what?! Next Friday I will return to my OB/GYN and my other favorite nurse. I'm overjoyed we are finally going back to MMC, and I get to see my amazing Dr. W again.
